Fitness secrets of Hollywood stars
International fitness expert Ramona Braganza has trained Hollywood celebs like Jessica Alba, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway. “Fitness for me is a way of life. It is the right mix of looking good and feeling healthy. My mother is 80 and she is a Zumba trainer. I haven’t seen anyone as healthy at that age and that’s what I want to be,” she says. In Hyderabad, the 53-year-old trainer gets chatty and gives some simple dos and don’ts for a healthy life.
Start with baby steps
The first thing you need to do is start! You don’t have to slog it off in a gym for hours. To begin with, 20 minutes, five days a week is enough. Give your body time to get along and push yourself one step at a time. Losing weight is a gradual process, don’t try too hard.

Set reasonable goals
Many a times, I have seen people set big goals that they are unable to attain and then they get disappointed. Don’t do that. Understand your body and set your goals accordingly.
Cut your food portions
The biggest mistake people do is eating too much food at one time. So, cut your portions and eat more meals of smaller quantity. Also, the amount of food a 15-year-old would need won’t be similar to something a 30-year-old would need.
Workout through the day
You don’t have to be in the gym to stay active. When I am on movie sets with actors, there is no gym. One can workout through the day by doing little things. Every time you stand up instead of sitting down, you burn more calories. So, stand as often and for as long as you can. Also, walking is extremely important.
Don’t follow fad diets
Fad diets are a no-no. There are many strict food plans that are for short periods and but it is not like that the fat goes away. You may lose fat rapidly but you would gain it back quickly as well. So, rather have a healthier approach that you can follow for a longer duration.
