Mouli did her graduation in science from Kolkota and then moved to Mumbai to do Hotel Management and Mass communication degrees but left them in mid way to pursue her acting career.

She did modelling for products like Pears, Rin, Ariel, Close-Up, Double Diamond, Asian Paints, Sonam Quartz, Britannia, Maggie, Bombay Dyeing. She got a break from Balaji telefilms and played a character of Shaina in Thriller show Kaahin Kissii Roz which was a successful TV Serial. She later also starred in hit shows Kutumb and Kkusum. She has also done an shows with Sony Entertainment televisions and Star Plus. Mouli also appeared in the critically acclaimed movie raincoat alongside Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan. Mouli got great reviews for her performance in the movie.
