Shweta Prasad is an Indian actress, who has started her career as a child artist in Hindi films and Television series. She went on to play lead roles in Bengali, Telugu and Tamil cinema as well. For her performance in the 2002 film Makdee, has won her the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Her role as Khadija in the film Iqbal was also admired and fetched her several accolades including the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 5th Karachi International Film Festival. She will soon be seen in the historical television series ‘Chandra Nandini‘.

Shweta Basu was born on 11 January 1990 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. She has studied Commerce in R. N. Podar High School in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Basu in her surname is taken from her mother’s maiden name and Prasad is taken from her father name. But her screen name is Shweta Basu.

Family
Shweta Basu Prasad is the daughter of Anuj Prasad, who is from Bihar and mother Sarmishtha Basu, who is from West Bengal. Her family moved to Mumbai when she was a child.
Career
Shweta has started her acting career with television serials. At the age of 11, she made her film debut with Makdee which was released in 2002. She even received the National Film Award for her amazing performance as a Best Child Artist. She was seen in popular TV serials like Karishma Kaa Karishma, Kutumb, The Magic Make-Up Box and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. In 2005, she became much popular with her movie Iqbal, which was admired by the critics.
Shweta Basu made her Telugu debut with the movie Kotha Bangaru Lokam, which was a commercial success. Later she was seen in Kasko, Kalavar King, Priyudu and Nuvvekaddunte Nenakkadunta. Prasad was arrested in 2014 during a Hyderabad police raid.

According to the sources, Shweta Basu Prasad is dating a short filmmaker Rohit Mittal. She said, “Yes, we are dating and it’s been almost two years. We are in a happy space and enjoying our relationship. We haven’t thought about marriage but yes it’s going smooth. I met Rohit at Phantom Films and that’s how it all started.”
